A Learning Material Designer and Developer is responsible for planning, creating, reviewing, and maintaining learning and assessment materials that support effective teaching, learning, and competency development. The role ensures that all materials meet regulatory, quality assurance, and organisational requirements while being learner-centred and outcomes-based.

- It is assumed that the learning material developer in competent in the field in which they are designing or have access to subject matter experts.

The Role of a Learning Material Designer and Developer
This training programme is designed to equip learners with the necessary knowledge and skills to design learning programmes and assessment tools across a variety of settings. In particular, it prepares participants to work effectively in both credit-bearing learning programmes and non-accredited learning programmes. Furthermore, it ensures that learners develop a well-rounded understanding of programme design and assessment practices.
As a result, participants will gain knowledge and practical skills in several key areas. Firstly, they will learn how to develop clear instructions and guidelines for learning activities. In addition, they will be able to select and design appropriate learning aids. Moreover, they will understand how to create effective links to additional learning resources to enhance learner engagement.
Furthermore, learners will develop competence in applying appropriate style, formatting, and packaging of learning materials. At the same time, they will gain insight into outcomes-based learning programmes within education, training, and development contexts. In addition, they will acquire skills in the design and development of learning materials as well as assessment tools, guided by sound assessment principles.
Moreover, participants will be trained in planning, preparing, and collecting data required for the design and development of learning programmes. Subsequently, they will be able to draft, analyse, and evaluate learning programmes to ensure quality and relevance. In addition, they will explore different learning styles and methodologies to support diverse learner needs.
