Overview

Not only does Early Childhood Development Practitioners work with children, but also with the children’s families and communities.  This accredited, credit bearing programme teaches the Early Childhood Development Practitioner how to teach families how to provide an environment conducive for development of young children.  This learning is programme is vital as the community and the family in which the child grows up has far reaching effects on the child’s life.

  • This learning programme requires sensitivity to the various scenarios in which a child is raised.

Who should attend the training?

  • Those involved in Early Childhood Development (ECD) Service – the care, facilitation, observation, reporting and working with families and others in a variety of settings for the development of babies, toddlers and young children.
  • Early Childhood Development (ECD) Settings – to any place where a child is or children are, including but not limited to Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres, institutions such as prisons and hospitals, and at home.

These settings would include the following:

  • Crèche, day care facilities or pre-schools staff, principles and owners
  • Grade R Teachers
  • Day Mothers
  • Children’s homes and orphanage staff
  • Child Minders and Nannies
  • Parents and Homeschool Parents

Those working towards the Early Childhood Development Qualifications, SAQA Qualification 58761 and 64650.

  • NQF Level 3 (Grade 10)

How is this Training Programme Completed and What Is the Duration?

  • Training can be provided to individuals or to corporates.
  • his learning programme can be completed either through class attendance, distance learning or RPL.
  • Learners who may have completed some of the modules previously are also welcome to complete outstanding modules for this qualification.
  • This qualification is to be completed over one year to eighteen months. The pace that the learner works at also impacts the duration and may be completed sooner.
  • Those who enrol per module have 3 months to complete and submit the portfolio of evidence.
  • Training is provided for corporates and individuals.

For Individuals:

  • Individuals can complete this qualification through distance learning.
  • Support is available to learners via Skype, email, phone or setting up an appointment to meet with one of our facilitators for guidance.
  • Learners will be required to work through the learner guide and portfolio of evidence.
  • The learner will be required to submit the portfolio of evidence for assessment. The portfolio of evidence contains proof of your ability to apply the newly acquired knowledge and skills in the workplace. The questions in the Portfolio of Evidence are all covered in the learner guide.

Group Bookings, Educational/Institutional or Corporate Bookings:

Training classes can be arranged for groups or corporates and can be tailored to the client’s needs.  ENJO Consultants are willing to work alongside the client to meet the client’s needs for this training within the requirements of the training programme.  Training classes can take place either at the client site or at ENJO Consultants.  A quote tailored to the clients’ requirements will be provided on request.  Support to learners whilst completing the portfolios can be negotiated.

Learning Material and Assessment

The learning material consists of a learner guide and a portfolio of evidence for completion by the learner.  The learner will keep the learner guide and the completed portfolio of evidence which must be returned to ENJO Consultants for assessment.

Portfolios for each module will be assessed and the results uploaded to ETDP SETA.  A certificate and a statement of results will be issued to competent learners as the portfolios are assessed and verified.

What is a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE)?

As the name implies, the Portfolio of Evidence contains different types of evidence for different purposes.

  • The Portfolio of Evidence contains various questions and activities which are completed by the learner.
  • The Portfolio of Evidence contains evidence of the learner’s ability to apply the newly acquired knowledge and skills in the workplace.
  • All questions in the Portfolio of Evidence are covered in the learner guide.

Does one need to write exams?

No, one does not need to write exams, the portfolio will be assessed to determine competence.

Assessment, Verification and Certification

  • The Portfolio of Evidence will be assessed by a registered assessor.
  • During assessment the assessor measures the evidence the learner submitted against the outcomes and criteria of the unit standard/qualification; compiles a report and if needed, contacts the learner for additional evidence.
  • When the learner is declared competent, the assessor will forward the assessment report to the learner and the Portfolio of Evidence will be submitted to the ENJO Moderator for moderation.
  • On successful completion, ENJO Consultants will upload the learner’s results onto the ETDP database.
  • Results need to be verified by the SETA before the Statement of Results (SoR) and Certificate are issued.
  • The ETDP SETA will capture the learner’s results on the National Learner Record Database (NLRD) and issue a Statement of Results (SoR) that will reflect the credits earned.
  • ENJO Consultants will then forward the certificate and Statement of Results to the client/learner.
